CONAMYPE signs agreement to support entrepreneurs and MSEs in the country

Written by Evelyn Alas

The Comisión Nacional de la Micro y Pequeña Empresa (CONAMYPE) continues to articulate actions to support entrepreneurs and MSEs throughout the country.

As part of this type of initiative, CONAMYPE signed an inter-institutional agreement with the municipal governments of the Asociación de Municipios del Valle de Jiboa, with the purpose of promoting local economic development in this micro region, for the creation of new enterprises, promotion, development, protection and strengthening of micro and small enterprises.

This agreement seeks to improve business services for entrepreneurs and MSEs in the municipalities of Apastepeque, Santo Domingo, Verapaz, San Sebastián, San Estaban Catarina, San Cayetano Istepeque, San Lorenzo and San Vicente.

Through the agreement, CONAMYPE undertakes to provide business assistance, training and methodological transfers, and to promote entrepreneurship, diversification, productive and commercial reconversion, innovation and industrialization.

Likewise, CONAMYPE will support the municipalities in designing, updating and improving their local economic development plans, based on the capacities of the MSEs operating in these departments.

The municipalities undertake to provide access to information on MSEs for purposes of updating the census of local enterprises and productive fabric, financial needs, and other references that may be necessary to achieve the objectives of this agreement.

In addition, linking women and young entrepreneurs, small producers and MSEs identified in the territory in order to strengthen their skills through business training with an emphasis on entrepreneurship.

This type of inter-institutional alliances responds to the objectives of the Plan Cuscatlán, presented by President Nayib Bukele, which states that "The development of the municipalities will be an important element in achieving economic growth".
