Written by Evelyn Alas

In order to strengthen technical skills for the development of new products for micro and small enterprises in the textile and apparel sector, the Government of El Salvador through the Comisión Nacional de la Micro y Pequeña Empresa (CONAMYPE) closed the diploma course "Product Development for the textile and apparel sector"  for the participating MSEs.

The course consisted of three virtual sessions and one on-site session, covering the following topics: analysis of materials for product development, breakdown of operations and type of machinery to be used, creation of a sample for production, quality criteria and packaging.

In addition, this diploma course seeks to help participating mype participants establish procedures to follow for the creation of new products, as well as to reinforce quality criteria so that the product will be better accepted in the market, and to provide tools that will enable them to be more efficient in manufacturing processes.

The implementation of this type of activities is framed within the development of Objective 2 of the Plan Cuscatlán "To develop the capacities of alternative economies in order to improve the sustainability of families and communities".
