They are a guide of recommendations that invites people to practice moderation in the way they consume alcoholic beverages inside or outside the home.
- Moderate the rate of drinking to 1 or less per hour
- Alternate alcoholic beverages with non-alcoholic beverages, such as water
- Plan to avoid driving (cab, public transportation, or designated driver)
- Prevent friends and family from driving if they have been drinking.
- Eating before or during drinking alcoholic beverages
- Keeping track of the amount of drinks you have had
- Avoid "keeping up" or "beating" others
