Huawei closed with great satisfaction Semillas para el Futuro 2022, a flagship initiative of Corporate Social Responsibility worldwide, which aims to provide cutting-edge knowledge on issues related to ICT and career to university students.
In El Salvador, Semillas para el Futuro has been carried out since 2016, training more than 61 young university students with the most advanced technology, promoting greater interest in the telecommunications sector, Chinese culture and also improving participation in the digital community. This year, the program achieved gender parity, an achievement that looked distant when the project started, but today it is a reality.
For the second consecutive year, students were able to develop innovative projects through the Tech4Good project. The Tech4GooD development program consisted of choosing a topic of interest, researching the problem, analyzing solutions and creating an action plan, competing with students from Costa Rica, Honduras, Panama, Dominican Republic, Venezuela and Guatemala.
Huawei recognized the effort of the students during the 8 days of training and has awarded the three best scores during the program. The winners of this 2022 edition of Semillas para el Futuro are:
Third Place: Alejandra Villalobos from Universidad Centroamericana José Simeón Cañas.
Second Place: Erlinda Carolina Acosta Parada from Universidad Don Bosco.
And in first place: Kevin Adonay Martinez Cerón from Universidad Don Bosco.
The winners will participate in a 5-day experience with other outstanding students from Central America, the Caribbean and Venezuela, where they will receive training from Tecnológico de Monterrey professors and experts from the Latin American region.
This year for the first time, Huawei implemented the group leader incentive, being the student Andrea Aguilar from Universidad Centroamericana José Simeón Cañas.
Winner of this merit for her ability to motivate her peers and demonstrate creative and innovative skills, she was selected by vote among the 20 participating students and as a prize, she will participate in the Latin America ICT Talent Summit 2022 organized by Huawei in Mexico City next november.
ICT education continues to be one of the key strategies to reduce the digital divide, and has directly supported the economic reactivation and technological development of the country. For this reason, Semillas del Futuro aims to empower young Panamanians to inspire the next generation of leaders through technology to overcome the challenges of the future.
