The multinational HUAWEI has presented diplomas of recognition to young talents who participated in its flagship social responsibility program Semillas para el Futuro Huawei has always been a company committed to technological progress for the benefit of salvadoran society.

In such an important event accompanied the multinational, representatives of the Government of El Salvador as the Secretary of Innovation of the Presidency, Daniel Mendez, with whom they signed a memorandum of understanding to start the basis of cooperation between both parties in areas such as training, infrastructure, cybersecurity, knowledge transfer, etc. All in order to take hand in hand technology to another level in El Salvador. Also in attendance was the Vice Minister of Culture, Erick Doradea, and authorities from universities in the country.

Through Semillas para el Futuro, Huawei has contributed to the educational advancement in El Salvador and has provided university students the opportunity to participate in a hybrid experience focused on technological innovation, Tech4Good global competition and intercultural exchange. The program also trains local talent for new information and communication technologies (ICT), 5G, artificial intelligence, cloud, fiber optics and digital power.

An important aspect to highlight is that in the 2023 edition, the delegation of salvadoran students won first place in the Tech4Good competition, highlighting the talent of students from various salvadoran universities.

These selected students will share training with young people from other countries in the region of Central America and the Caribbean, which will allow them to immerse themselves in an interactive and dynamic classroom, where group discussions, debates and round tables can be organized, ensuring a cultural exchange.

Semillas para el Futuro is Huawei's flagship Corporate Social Responsibility initiative at a global level, which aims to provide cutting-edge knowledge in ICT-related topics and soft skills to university students to help them combat the challenges of this sector in the region.

During 8 days, the students shared experiences, trained and put into practice the knowledge learned in the development of the Tech4Good project, which focuses on solving a social or ecological problem using technology as the main tool. 10 groups presented their projects and the projects from Venezuela and El Salvador were selected as finalists.

The winning project of the salvadoran students called "StreetAI" is a software that allows speeding up the process of traffic accidents in El Salvador, as well as providing a timely and effective solution to accident victims.

The salvadoran students who received awards are: Alejandra Gutierrez, Andres Figueroa, Cristofer Hernández, Edwin Chávez, Fernando Figueroa, Gabriela Alas, Kevin Hernández, Natalia Mata, Noé Portillo and Pamela Gómez.

The 2023 edition of Semillas para el Futuro Centroamérica y el Caribe had more than 44% female participation, making it one of the regions with the highest number of women participating. In recent years, Huawei has contributed to close the gender gap, developing projects such as Equal ICT, dedicated to strengthen ICT skills to women in the Latin American region, it is expected to train more than 1000 women in the next year with this project.

"In Huawei, we are aware of the need for access to education through new technologies, we know that with this program we are creating economic development in the country through these young people who have much to offer to the country. In Huawei we train them and provide them with the necessary tools to further enhance their skills for their professional future", said James Huang, CEO Huawei El Salvador.

Huawei has trained more than 15,000 students in more than 139 countries worldwide, with its Semillas para el Futuro Centroamérica y el Caribe program, reaffirming its commitment to provide valuable opportunities to future leaders of the ICT industry in the world, thus helping to close the digital divide.
