"The start of 2022 has undoubtedly been very positive for the company. During the first quarter we exceeded our growth projections in Latin America and we expect to close the year with a return on equity between 7% and 9%, driven by the good performance of our investments; the increase in commercial dynamics, which leverages the growth of our premiums, and the consolidation of our operations in the nine countries where we are present", explained Juana Llano, president of Suramericana.
The positive results of the multilatina were also leveraged by the increases in inflation in the region, especially benefiting the colombian and chilean portfolios, due to the indexation that accompanies the insurance liabilities of these businesses.
Regarding COVID claims, the multilatina reported a decrease of 60.5% compared to the same quarter of the previous year, as well as a decrease of 11.4% compared to the fourth quarter of 2021.
Regarding its administrative expenses, Suramericana indicated that it managed to improve its efficiency indicators through the intelligent management of resources, the transformation of its operating models and the continuous search for productivity.
