The program has trained farmers in proper cultivation techniques and this has generated a higher production of cucumbers, peppers and other vegetables. Technical assistance in the field has also been crucial for the growth of farmers, and regardless of the time the extensionists advise in person or by phone to always maintain an active production.
AMEXCID extensionist, Mauricio Antonio Rosales, said that with the agricultural kit, producers have improved their production and marketing capacities.
Among the beneficiaries of these agricultural packages are the families of the canton of El Coco in Chalchuapa, department of Santa Ana, who by planting 300 cucumber plants have managed to obtain a profit of US$900 in their first harvest, for which they intend to invest in a new plantation.
The Sembrando Vida Plan has generated jobs for other families in the area, who collaborate in vegetable production.
