Chevron plans to invest more than US$90 million in El Salvador over the next five years. A key project focuses on its terminal in Acajutla, Sonsonate, where the company intends to install two new fuel storage tanks.
Miguel Ramos, Chevron representative and CEO of Texaco in El Salvador, explained that the Acajutla terminal currently has a storage capacity of approximately 450,000 barrels; the addition of the new tanks will raise this capacity to roughly 710,000 barrels.

Ramos highlighted that this project is part of a strategy to grow and strengthen the company’s operations in the country. Expanding the terminal will provide greater fuel storage capacity and support the growth the company projects for the coming years.
An investment focused on strengthening operations
Since 2020, Chevron has allocated approximately US$55 million to its operations in El Salvador, according to company data. The plan for the next five years involves exceeding US$90 million in investment, with funds directed toward various areas of the operation.

In addition to the two new tanks in Acajutla, the investment covers new service stations, technology integration, and operational efficiency improvements. Ramos also noted that work will be carried out at the lubricants plant located in Acajutla.

The Acajutla terminal thus remains a vital component of Texaco’s operations in the country. The capacity increase, from 450,000 to 710,000 barrels represents a significant expansion of the infrastructure available for fuel storage.

Currently, Texaco has 120 service stations in El Salvador and generates more than 1,000 direct and indirect jobs, according to data provided by the company. The company also maintains investments related to the modernization of its operations and the use of new technologies.

90 years of Texaco in El Salvador
The announcement of new investments comes as Texaco marks its 90th anniversary in El Salvador, a milestone the company is celebrating with the campaign “90 Years Moving with El Salvador”.

Over this period, the brand has built operations centered on the supply and marketing of fuels, as well as other products and services related to the sector. For Chevron, the celebration also coincides with a new phase of investment and infrastructure expansion in the country.

Through these planned projects, Chevron aims to strengthen its operational capacity in El Salvador and expand storage infrastructure in Acajutla. The goal is to increase capacity from approximately 450,000 barrels to 710,000 barrels, while the company moves forward with its plan to invest over US$90 million over the next five years.
