The Minister of Labor, Rolando Castro, has expressed his concern through his social networks about the recent complaints received regarding certain City Halls that try to force their employees to resign from the municipal administrative career law, in order to transfer them to a contract system. This procedure is completely illegal, except in cases where there is a mutual agreement and the employee’s professional improvement is sought.
It is essential to emphasize that the law establishes that any change in employment status must have the agreement of both the municipal administration and the employee. If there is no such agreement, any attempt to force workers to give up their rights is improper and may have legal repercussions for the municipalities involved.
In this context, the Minister has announced an upcoming meeting with municipal workers, where he seeks to listen to their concerns and complaints. This space will also offer advice on labor matters, ensuring that workers’ rights are respected and that they are provided with the necessary information to defend their labor situation.
The position of the Ministry of Labor is clear: the law must be complied with by all without exception. Minister Castro has reiterated his commitment to rigorously enforce labor regulations, thus guaranteeing the protection of the rights of municipal workers in the country.
