Since its foundation, SISTEMA FEDECRÉDITO, has remained faithful to its mission of doing good works for salvadorans, generating welfare and development in the salvadoran communities around it, as well as the public with whom it works on a daily basis, so it focuses on strengthening the actions of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Sustainability. This is done through its CSR lines that seek to promote financial inclusion and education; support education and the promotion of national culture; support environmental conservation and promote the dissemination of positive messages, thus enabling it to be a promoter of social development in the communities.
Following up on these lines, SISTEMA FEDECRÉDITO carries out important Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability initiatives, among which we can mention:
Financial inclusion and education:
The SISTEMA FEDECRÉDITO in order to encourage the habit of saving in salvadorans, puts special interest in that they can make efficient use of their finances; that is why it carries out since 2019 the World Savings Day Congress, an initiative, where every year brings together more than 1,000 attendees including partners, customers, members of the Cajas de Crédito and Bancos de los Trabajadores of SISTEMA FEDECRÉDITO, students from universities in the country, representatives of national and international organizations, entrepreneurs of micro, small and medium enterprises, as well as different media. With this type of events, SISTEMA FEDECRÉDITO continues contributing to the formation of responsible citizens committed to the management of their finances.
The efforts of SISTEMA FEDECRÉDITO have been constant since, with the objective of supporting the good management of finances in different sectors of the salvadoran population, from 2012 to date more than 35,634 people have been trained throughout the country, this thanks to the Financial Education Programs of SISTEMA FEDECRÉDITO: For adults “Me and My Finances”, for children and adolescents, for young people from 16 to 21 years old and for MiSMEs, which are taught by all the Cajas de Crédito and the Bancos de los Trabajadores members of the SISTEMA FEDECRÉDITO
In addition, SISTEMA FEDECRÉDITO promotes other activities with the commitment to support the financial education of salvadorans. Each year, it joins the Global Money Week (Global Money Week) where the good use of financial products is promoted among children, adolescents and young people.
Supporting education and promoting culture:
SISTEMA FEDECRÉDITO gives priority to promoting the culture of El Salvador, so it has joined different initiatives such as participation in patron saint festivals in different municipalities of El Salvador; support for music and art through the “Lunes Musicales” project, where every monday concerts of salvadoran artists are held at the Museo Marte and art exhibitions open to the public; donations of musical instruments to school peace bands; among other actions that undoubtedly contribute to the promotion of Salvadoran identity in the population.
In addition, the SISTEMA FEDECRÉDITO benefits with student scholarships to talented young people, as well as programs and contests for young people, developed by different universities in the country which are part of the contribution that is provided in favor of education at different levels.
SISTEMA FEDECRÉDITO reaffirms its commitment as a 100% salvadoran entity, to support the vision of growing business in progress and business ideas, keeping the entrepreneurial culture active in the university community, therefore supports different initiatives such as the “Business Ideas and Business Models Contest” of the Universidad Francisco Gavidia, Bachelor Entrepreneur Contest of the School of Economics and Business, UCA EMPRENDE Contest of the Universidad José Simeón Cañas, Creative Skills Contest of the Universidad de El Salvador, UJMD Company Contest of the Universidad José Matías Delgado, among others.
SISTEMA FEDECRÉDITO fulfilling its commitment to support education through its lines of CSR, since 2013 makes deliveries of backpacks with school supplies to children from different schools, benefiting since that date to more than 7,000 children and young people, an action that contributes to their overcoming and moving towards a future full of possibilities.
As part of its sustainability initiatives, the SISTEMA FEDECRÉDITO encourages salvadorans to become leaders in their own business ideas, annually developing different actions to enhance the skills and knowledge of entrepreneurs.
That is why, since 2019, it has held the congress “Emprende Salvadoreña”, an event that to date has attracted more than 4,000 women, with the aim of highlighting and promoting the active role of women within social sectors, business and economics of the country. SISTEMA FEDECRÉDITO was recently chosen by the Corporación Interamericana de Inversiones (IIC, or BID Invest) and the Corporación Financiera Internacional (CFI) to manage the first Social Bond in El Salvador, whose funds are 40% earmarked to finance MiPYME led by women and housing for women.
Environmental Conservation:
The work is focused on different areas of interest of the environment, each year, the SISTEMA FEDECRÉDITO carries out its Reforestation Campaign, in which since 2013 have participated more than 1,000 people and have been planted approximately 6,675 trees of more than 670 species. This is expected to reduce the environmental impact by 34,800 kg of carbon dioxide per year.
Seven environmental campaigns have been worked together with the Partners during these 2024, focusing on awareness and environmental education, responsible consumption, environmental sanitation, reforestation, species protection and placement of garbage deposits.
As part of its sustainability actions, in responsible consumption, it is highlighted that in the building of the Federación de Cajas de Crédito y Bancos de los Trabajadores (FEDECRÉDITO) energy savings from september 2023 to september 2024 has been 98,383.07 KWH equivalent to US $14,545.07 and represents 17% of the total electrical energy consumption of the building, this was achieved thanks to the implementation of solar panels. This saving allows to mitigate 67 tons of carbon dioxide, which is equivalent to planting 3,063 trees per year.
Contribution to social projects:
The actions of SISTEMA FEDECRÉDITO also includes support and contribution to social projects driven by third parties, these good works allow you to contribute to vulnerable sectors can have tools for their development, this is the case of the support for more than ten years that has been provided to TELETÓN for the implementation of programs such as the Plan Padrino and the Sports Inclusion Program, which have benefited more than 4,500 people.
In 2023, a donation was made to repair and maintain the only therapeutic pool that is completely free for salvadorans. This support is part of the effort to rehabilitate salvadoran families, reactivating more than 7,000 visits a year, 15 diagnoses that benefit from hydrotherapies in the pool, and performing more than 30 weekly therapies. These efforts contributed US$55,195.00 to TELETÓN to provide comprehensive rehabilitation services.
