Thousands of municipal workers met with the Minister of Labor and Social Security, Rolando Castro, after they denounced constant violations of labor rights by the authorities of the municipalities.
Among the denunciations are the non-payment of salaries, discounts, or withholdings of law, which the municipalities do not send to the different entities such as banks, social security, or AFP, as well as the maintenance of temporary contracts for workers who have years of service.
“There are mayors’ offices that are not paying workers’ salaries on time, and this cannot be tolerated, besides we have observed that some mayors and mayors have kept the withholdings of their workers”, he said.
The official assured that the mayors who keep the legal withholdings from the workers are committing various crimes, such as embezzlement, “which is totally unacceptable and must be denounced”, said the official.
According to Castro, as public officials, they must ensure that the law is complied with, no matter who they are and regardless of the political party to which they belong, “to all those who break the law, we will file a lawsuit in the FGR, no matter who they are or what party they belong to”, reiterated the official.
