The Government of President Nayib Bukele continues to promote alternative mobility in the country, as well as the generation of spaces for recreation and healthy coexistence of salvadoran families throughout the country. This is possible, now that the security environment provides the conditions for it.
This coming sunday will be held the sixth edition of the Pedaleada in Santa Ana, the first in the west of the country, starting at 8:00 in the morning, which will begin at Nicolás Salume Boulevard and end at the same point. This day, the heads of the Ministry of Public Works, Romeo Rodríguez, and the Vice Ministry of Transportation, Nelson Reyes, provided information about this event.
“It is about 6.6 kilometers long. This is a family event, people can arrive by bicycle, scooter, skateboard, running, with their pets. It is open to the public. It is a space for healthy recreation; it is also good for health and we promote non-motorized, sustainable mobility”, said the Minister of Public Works.
The official indicated that bicycles will be available for loan at no cost for people, who can pre-register on the website pedaleada.mop.gob.sv.Also, there will be free transportation for people to move to the city of Santa Ana, this will leave from different parts of the country.
Among these, the Zacamil shopping center, in Mejicanos; Parque Cuscatlán, San Salvador; and Puma La Garita gas station, in Ciudad Delgado, at 5:00 in the morning. From Parque El Cafetalón , Santa Tecla, at 5:30 am. From San Bartolomé Perulapía Catholic Church, at 4:00 a.m.; Ilopango central park, at 4:30 a.m.; Sonzacate and Sonsonate central parks at 6:30 a.m.
Meanwhile, the Vice Minister of Transportation highlighted that in previous editions of this activity there has been an average attendance of 4,000 people, which shows the interest of the population in participating in this type of event that promotes the bicycle as a sustainable and alternative means of transportation.
“From one day before we will have a controlled closure, to begin the installation in the afternoon and evening hours of different hydration points, workshops and assistance. On sunday at 2.00 a.m. there will be a total closure to give way to the people who are going to attend this event”, said Reyes.
