For next year, the amount requested by the Central Government, through the Ministry of Finance, amounts to US$9,663 million, so there will be a reduction of US$970 million compared to the estimated closing budget for 2024.
The Minister of Security, Gustavo Villatoro, explained the various points regarding the funds that will be granted for next year, which will be US$589.03 million.
This amount will be distributed among the institutions supported by the ministry and US$4.05 million will be for investment projects for the Policía Nacional Civil (PNC), for the Secretaría de Estado (SEDE) and for the Academia Nacional de Seguridad Pública (ANSP).
Of the US$584.98 million for Security, the distribution is as follows:
PNC US$446.80 million (76.38% of the general budget)
Secretaría de Estado (SEDE) US$38.53 million
Centros Penales US$72.39 million
ANSP US$9.74 million
Dirección General de Migración y Extranjería (DGME) US$7.86 million
Registro Nacional de Personas Naturales (RNPN) US$6.52 million
Unidad Técnica Ejecutiva (UTE) US$2.25 million
Consejo Nacional de Administración de Bienes (CONAB) US$0.89 million
With these funds, this State portfolio aims to guarantee the remunerations, bonuses and labor benefits of the human talent that is within the security institutions.
The aim is also to equip and modernise institutions in the justice and public security sectors, as well as information technologies to improve, prevent and investigate crimes and thus support decision-making.
