El Salvador’s Dirección General de Energía, Hidrocarburos y Minas (DGEHM) has published the new reference fuel prices, which will be in effect from october 29 to november 11, 2024. The new prices reflect an increase of up to US$0.03 per gallon, depending on the type of fuel and the geographic zone in the country.
In the Central Zone, the price of regular and premium gasoline has increased US$0.01, to US$3.74 and US$3.69 per gallon, respectively. Diesel has increased US$0.02 to US$3.44 per gallon. These increases reflect market trends and respond to factors such as international oil prices.
The Western Zone presents slightly higher prices for premium and regular gasoline, with increases of US$0.01, reaching US$3.75 and US$3.70 per gallon, respectively. Diesel in this region has been adjusted by US$0.02, now costing US$3.45 per gallon. The variation in prices between zones responds to transportation and distribution dynamics.
In the Eastern Zone, the increase is most notable in premium gasoline, with an increase of US$0.02, reaching US$3.79 per gallon, while regular gasoline and diesel are up US$0.01 and US$0.03, reaching US$3.74 and US$3.49 per gallon, respectively. This zone tends to have higher prices due to the greater transportation distance and associated costs.
In addition, the DGEHM announced that this is due to the decrease in gasoline and diesel reserves in the United States during october, according to reports from the International Energy Agency (IEA), which has influenced the increase in the prices of petroleum products in the international market.
The DGEHM urges the population to keep informed about official prices and to take responsible consumption measures in view of the adjustment in fuel prices. In addition, it is reminded that these prices are reference prices, so they may vary at service stations according to their pricing policies.
