Holcim reaffirmed its commitment to road safety by recognizing drivers who, over the past year, have stood out for their performance and dedication to responsible and safe driving. This recognition was given to both our own personnel and contractors and evaluated different indicators of safe driving behavior related to defensive driving practices.
The event highlighted 37 drivers, who were selected after a rigorous evaluation process using metrics provided by the IVMS (In-Vehicle Monitoring System). This system analyzes indicators such as sudden braking and acceleration, respect for speed limits and driving hours, thus ensuring safety on the roads.
“This recognition not only celebrates the individual efforts of each outstanding driver, but also reinforces our commitment as a company to zero injuries in our operations. That is why we promote a culture of road safety. Every kilometer driven without incident is a reflection of the professionalism and dedication of those who are part of this team, whether as direct collaborators or strategic partners. We know that responsible driving not only protects people, but also has a positive impact on the communities where we operate. For this reason, we will continue to support best practices to ensure a safer environment on the country’s highways. This achievement fills us with pride and motivates us to continue working together for a safer future for everyone”, said Yaosca Velásquez, Head of Logistics at Holcim El Salvador.
Among the winners were 10 drivers from the Logistics area, 10 from Quarries, 12 from Concretos and 5 from Geocycle. In addition, the following transportation companies were recognized for demonstrating responsibility and commitment to road safety: Grupo GEA, Transportes Morales, Grupo Jirón, Transportes Santa Fe, Transportes Corporin and Transportes Martínez Andrade.
Tangible commitment to safety
Thanks to the growth and dynamism shown in recent years in the construction sector in El Salvador, Holcim’s logistics activity has also increased, making it increasingly important to reinforce the basic principles of road safety and to have people and companies that are responsible and committed to the task. Between january and october 2024, a record 10,293,270 kilometers were driven without incident in all Holcim El Salvador business segments.
The award-winning drivers received gift cards in appreciation of their performance, while the outstanding companies were recognized with commemorative plaques and diplomas. These awards, beyond the pride they generate, open up new opportunities for growth for the participants.
