McDonald’s reaffirms its commitment to be present where the hearts of salvadorans are; therefore, years after the brand opened its first restaurant in El Salvador, today it reaches the heart of the city in the Historic Center, to turn it into the new meeting point to build new experiences and continue creating great stories.
McDonald’s opened its first restaurant in El Salvador with an establishment located in the center of the capital, in front of the Plaza Morazán. This was the first restaurant not only in El Salvador, but also in the region, since thanks to the initiative, vision and leadership of the Cofiño family, who after their visit to that restaurant, decided to take and expand McDonald’s in each of the Central American countries, now the brand has a presence in Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua.
This new restaurant is located on Rubén Darío Street and 3rd Avenue South, in front of the well-known Mercado Hula Hula in San Salvador. The new space combines the classic and the modern, but with the same flavor that has delighted generations, with the unmatched fries, the classic Big Mac and all the favorite products from McDonald’s and McCafé.
“As representatives of McDonald’s we are extremely excited about the opening of this new restaurant in the center of the capital, because it is located where the hearts of salvadorans are. This opening is our way of saying: thank you for being part of our history! Now we want to continue creating magnificent moments with you”, said Javier Olivero, CEO of McDonald’s Mesoamerica.
McDonald’s Centro Histórico will have special hours. It will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 midnight so that its customers can enjoy all the products and the best atmosphere from early in the morning
until the end of their day. In addition, there will be McDonalandia so that the little ones in the house can entertain themselves in the play area.
For all those who come to see the new restaurant, for a limited time they will be able to travel back in their memories and enjoy an incredible exhibition of toys, boxes, bags and collectible cups, which Salvadorans once enjoyed a few decades ago.
“We want salvadorans to have a new meeting point in McDonald’s Centro Histórico where they will find our wide variety of products with the same flavor and quality as always”, said Esteban Alvarado, Regional Operations manager of McDonald’s El Salvador.
With the opening of this restaurant, McDonald’s continues to work under its pillars: Employment, Connection with the Community, Environment and Food Quality, which are part of its brand platform “Small Actions Big Changes.”
In line with supporting the country’s economic development, McDonald’s opens the doors of each new restaurant to create jobs for salvadorans. With this opening, it has opened 37 jobs, which add to the more than 800 job opportunities that it provides in El Salvador.
And as is tradition, every time McDonald’s opens the doors of a new restaurant, it also opens the doors of its heart by donating to a local charity. With this opening, it donated US$2,500 to the Fundación Éxodo.
In addition to its commitment to employment and community support, McDonald’s maintains a firm commitment to the environment, which is why this restaurant is designed in an eco-friendly way, which is reflected in its infrastructure that incorporates LED lights. Additionally, in line with efforts to care for the planet, the brand creates waste separation spaces that guarantee better disposal and recycling of waste.
Food quality is another important pillar for McDonald’s, which is why they guarantee that this new restaurant meets the same quality standards as always, including their delicious coffee, which also has Rainforest Alliance certification since 2007, which guarantees that it is grown and harvested on farms and forests that follow sustainable practices.
