The Ministerio de Turismo (Mitur) announced the arrival of the first cruise ship of 2025 to El Salvador “The World”, a residential vessel that included the country in its global route. The vessel stayed 24 hours in salvadoran waters, marking a milestone in the promotion of national tourism. According to Mitur, this visit reinforces the image of El Salvador as a safe and attractive destination for international travelers.

The World is known for being a luxury floating community, whose residents travel the world visiting exclusive destinations. Its stopover in El Salvador was catalogued by authorities as a “vote of confidence” that positions the country in the global tourism industry. “This community chooses safe places with unique experiences, which adds value to our offer”, said Mitur in a statement.
During their stay, tourists mainly from the United States, Canada and Australia explored attractions such as the Izalco and Santa Ana volcanoes, the Joya de Cerén Archaeological Park, declared a World Heritage Site, and the beaches in the west of the country. They also toured the historic center of San Salvador, combining nature, culture and history in their itinerary.

The visit boosted the local economy, benefiting transportation companies, hotels, restaurants and tour guides. Mitur emphasized that the cruise passengers stayed more than one day in the country, which allowed for greater investment in services and activities. This type of tourism with high purchasing power contributes to diversify the sector’s income.
With this arrival, El Salvador consolidates its strategy to attract international cruise ships, taking advantage of its natural and patrimonial wealth. Authorities expect this to be the beginning of more stopovers in 2025, boosting the country’s projection as an emerging destination in Central America.
