Promoters of innovation and sustainability
Driven by its purpose “To generate, with family warmth, opportunities that change lives”, CMI has a sustainability strategy integrated to the business that seeks to positively impact its people, the community and the planet.
The company has implemented initiatives to measure, reduce and offset greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, managing to avoid the emission of 364,047 tons of CO2 between 2019 and 2023. As part of these actions, the company has two carbon neutral certifications in the country, in the flour mill and the animal feed plant.
CMI has developed innovative nutritional solutions in the manufacture of animal feed under its Aliansa brand. Thanks to the use of enzymes such as proteases, carbohydrases and phytases, feed digestibility has been optimized, allowing a lower inclusion of ingredients in diets and reducing the excretion of unabsorbed waste. This technology contributes to the reduction of GHG emissions, mitigating the environmental impact of farms, which can generate between 40% and 70% of these emissions within the agricultural production chain.
In addition to these initiatives, the company has promoted continuous training for its personnel on key issues such as carbon footprint measurement, water management, and waste management, ensuring a culture of sustainability throughout the organization.

With more than a century of history, CMI has been a key player in the generation of economic, social, and environmental value not only in the country, but in the entire Central American region. The company is a leader in food production through iconic brands such as Pollo Indio, Toledo, Pollo Campero, Don Pollo, Pasta Ina, Pasta Fama, Harinas del Comal and Gama cookies, which are part of the local tradition and flavor.
This ASI award validates CMI’s commitment to responsible and sustainable economic development, marking an important milestone in its history and setting a model for other companies in the region to follow.
