Since its creation, the program has allowed hundreds of Salvadorans to access job opportunities abroad in an orderly and safe manner. The United States, Canada and Costa Rica were the first countries to participate, and now Spain represents a new alternative for those seeking to improve their quality of life.
The selected salvadorans will work in sectors such as agriculture, mechanics, cleaning and painting, areas in which there is a high demand for labor in Spain. In addition to accessing favorable working conditions, the beneficiaries will be able to send remittances to their families, thus boosting the national economy.
“This program has had visas for four years, it is a success”, said the official. He explained that the contracts are with one of the best hotel chains in Spain and that the working conditions will be different. “They do not go to the ocean or open sea, they come to work in the swimming pool, therefore, it is not that they are taking a risk”, he emphasized.
The announcement of the dispatch of the first contingent of workers has generated expectations among those seeking opportunities outside the country. Job stability, more competitive salaries and the possibility of professional growth are some of the factors that have motivated salvadorans to apply for the program.
The Minister of Labor emphasized that the objective of the Labor Migration Program is to guarantee a safe, orderly, and regular migration. “They will no longer cross a river or a desert in an irregular manner, which stole the lives of many compatriots and their children. Now they will cross the Atlantic Ocean by plane, with formal jobs, good salaries and all the guarantees of law”, he said. With Spain on the list of destinations, the program continues to expand, offering new opportunities to those seeking a better future without leaving the law.
