Once again Kimberly-Clark leads the ranking of the Asociación Salvadoreña de Industriales (ASI), in the category of Industrial Exporters in the paper and cardboard sector. For 14 consecutive years, the company has been recognized for consumer preference for the innovative and quality products produced by the company in El Salvador, including toilet paper, kitchen towels and Scott brand napkins.
El Salvador plant also manufactures Kimberly-Clark Professional’s institutional division products for the health, tourism, hotel and restaurant sectors, among others. In 2023, the company exported 46.2 thousand metric tons of products from El Salvador, with Guatemala, Costa Rica and Honduras being the countries to which it exports the largest quantity of Scott brand toilet paper in Central America, according to Sandro De Ponte, manager of Kimberly-Clark’s Sitio del Niño plant.
“Of Kimberly-Clark’s Sitio del Niño plant’s production, 83.5% was shipped to Central America and 11.5% was exported to the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico. The remaining 5% was exported to the rest of the Caribbean islands”, concluded De Ponte.
In 2021, the company made an investment of US$18 million in the El Salvador plant, which allowed it to reinforce with more state-of-the-art technology and improved infrastructure, enabling it to increase its production capacity by 30%. These improvements are aimed at operational excellence, employee well-being, and minimal impact on the environment.
