The inhabitants of the Petapa canton in the district of El Carrizal, municipality of Chalatenango Sur, will soon have not only a modern hydraulic concrete road with a length of more than 7 kilometers, but also a school that is part of a package of nearly 80 schools that the Dirección de Obras Municipales is building and remodeling nationwide.

The project, which is part of the Presidential Program “Mi Nueva Escuela”, aims to intervene and modernize the infrastructure for kindergarten, first, second and third cycle that will benefit more than 1,200 inhabitants.







The new facilities will accommodate more than 140 students from the canton of Petapa and the hamlets of Petapita, Los Santos, La Quesera, La Junta, and additionally a group of students from the brother country of Honduras.
The facilities, found in terrible condition due to the last earthquakes registered in the country, will be completely transformed.






Two modules will be built, totaling six classrooms, one for kindergarten and the others for students from first to ninth grade, which will have a new thermo-acoustic roof to counteract the heat and noise during the rainy season.
The classrooms will have new doors and windows, as will the electrical system and the multidisciplinary court. The rainwater and drinking water network will also be improved; the sanitary battery, the auditorium, the flagpole pavilion, the drainage system, the play area, the play areas for early childhood children, special flooring including anti-slip, construction of the kitchen-dining room, storage room and the free internet system will be installed.


Parallel to the remodeling of the school in El Carrizal, the DOM crews are making progress in the improvement with hydraulic concrete surface in more than 7.39 kilometers of rural street to connect the cantons of Vainilla and Petapa. A street that includes masonry walls of 75 linear meters at three points, gutters, speed bumps, dissipating steps, and curbs along the road.

In Chalatenango, the DOM delivered a modern school in El Zapotal canton, Ojos de Agua district, while progress is being made in the construction of schools in Obrajuelo canton in Agua Caliente, in Carasque canton in Nueva Trinidad and in Buena Vista hamlet in Chilamate canton in Nueva Concepción.
