The salvadoran banking sector has demonstrated notable strength and growth, according to the recent update of the Banking Ranking for may 2025 by the Asociación Bancaria Salvadoreña (ABANSA). Total assets reached US$26,448.4 million, reflecting a year-over-year increase of more than US$2,195.7 million, representing a significant increase of 9.1%. This rise underscores the robustness and dynamism of the country’s financial landscape.

This growth outlook is led by the country’s leading financial institutions. Banco Agrícola tops the list with US$6,401.5 million in assets, followed by Banco Cuscatlán with US$4,431.4 million and BAC Credomatic with US$3,843.5 million. Depositor and investor confidence in these institutions is a key factor in this distribution of participation. Banks such as ABANK, with US$213.6 million, and Citibank, with US$204.5 million, also contribute to the sector’s dynamism. These banks have managed to maintain and increase their portfolios in an economic environment that demands constant adaptation and proven financial strength.

The previous month, the sector had already reached US$26,477.5 million, consolidating an upward trend. This amount represented a year-over-year increase of more than US$1,975.4 million, marking a notable 8.1% growth.
