The Banco Central de Reserva de El Salvador (BCR), through the Centro de Trámites de Importaciones y Exportaciones (CIEX El Salvador) and in coordination with the Instituto Salvadoreño del Café (ISC), announced that as of today, august 12, 2025, a new electronic service will be operational to manage Coffee Export Permits. This tool will benefit exporters of all types of coffee that require authorization from the ISC, allowing them to complete the process entirely digitally through the Sistema de Facilitación de Comercio Exterior (SFCE).

The process begins with the application for registration of the external coffee sales contract with the ISC, through the Coffee Export Procedures System. Once pre-authorization has been obtained, the exporter must register and authorize the operation in the Sistema Integrado de Comercio Exterior (SICEX). Subsequently, they will enter the SFCE to select the authorized operation number and thus automatically obtain the export permit, the letter of guarantee, and the certificate of origin issued by the ISC.
Among the main advantages of this new system are the streamlining of permit issuance, the digitization of documents, and the possibility of obtaining authorization in seconds, without the need to physically visit the offices. In addition, CIEX guarantees that its systems will be available 24 hours a day, throughout the year, with access from anywhere in the world.

This service will also contribute to the generation of real-time statistical information, allowing for better monitoring and control of Salvadoran coffee exports. The measure is part of efforts to modernize foreign trade processes and facilitate export activity in one of the most emblematic sectors of the national economy.
With this innovation, El Salvador reinforces its commitment to efficiency and international competitiveness, offering coffee producers and exporters a modern tool that reduces time and costs, optimizes document management, and strengthens the presence of salvadoran coffee in global markets.
