The Índice de Precios al Consumidor (IPC) for september 2025 showed a slight increase compared to the previous month, according to updated official data. The overall index reached 130.89 points, compared to 130.81 in august.
Analysis by category reveals that, during september 2025, food and non-alcoholic beverages showed a slight decrease, with an index of 155.72 points compared to 155.82 in august. In contrast, the alcoholic beverages and tobacco category experienced a significant increase, rising to 176.11 points from 175.60 the previous month. Clothing and footwear saw a marginal adjustment, rising to 100.17 points from 100.10.
The accommodation, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels sector consolidated an upward trend and contributed 149.03 points to the index, reflecting pressure on basic service costs. Meanwhile, furniture and household goods and their maintenance also registered an increase to 112.24 points compared to 111.82 in august, while the health sector showed a positive variation, standing at 115.12 points compared to the previous 114.99.
In terms of transportation, the report shows a slight increase, reaching 110.28 points compared to 110.20 previously. The communications sector remains unchanged at 80.35 points, showing stability. In recreation and culture, the results are slightly negative, closing the month at 93.60 points compared to 94.00 in the previous period.
The education sector has remained completely stable at 117.07 points over the last few months. Restaurants and hotels continue their upward trend, increasing from 162.80 in august to 163.46 in september. Finally, miscellaneous goods and services show a slight decrease, from 129.19 points in august to 129.09 in september.
These data reflect a scenario of moderate and mostly stable variations, with increases concentrated in alcoholic beverages, accommodation, health, and restaurant services, while essential products show slight declines, according to the official report.
