The Vice Minister Ad-Honorem of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock of El Salvador, Óscar Domínguez, announced a new measure aimed at reducing the cost of agricultural inputs, with the goal of strengthening national production and easing the expenses of thousands of producers in the country.
According to the official, this initiative complements previous actions that have already led to lower prices for vegetables and staple grains, now taking an additional step focused on facilitating access to key inputs for the agricultural sector.
Distribution of low-cost inputs
Starting this friday, dozens of AGROCENTA mobile units will be deployed nationwide, bringing agricultural inputs at affordable prices directly to producers, without the need for intermediaries.
Among the products available in this first phase are:
• Ammonium sulfate starting at $15.80
• Triple 15 starting at $31.00
• 16-20-0 starting at $29.75
• 40% N + 6% S starting at $30.75

Authorities indicated that this is only part of the initial offering, as more essential inputs for soil preparation and crop protection will be added progressively.
National coverage and strategic locations
The Ministry reported that temporary sales points will be announced soon. These will be strategically located in different areas of the country to ensure greater coverage and facilitate access for producers.
Collective purchasing and support for the sector
As part of the strategy, a meeting was held with more than 160 industry leaders, representing approximately 200,000 farmers, including associations, cooperatives, and independent producers.
During the meeting, progress was made on organizing collective pre-orders, which will allow producers to acquire supplies at a lower cost and even receive them at home, optimizing time and resources.

Impact on production and food security
Authorities emphasized that this measure would have a direct impact on reducing production costs, which could translate into better conditions for the agricultural sector and, in the long term, more stable prices for consumers.
It is also part of a government strategy aimed at strengthening national production and guaranteeing food security, benefiting thousands of producers in various sectors nationwide.
With these actions, the agricultural sector seeks to improve its competitiveness and ensure the country’s food supply, in a context where access to affordable supplies is key to sustainable production.
