El Salvador’s trade in goods maintained a positive trend during the first half of 2026, driven by export growth, market diversification, and an expanded range of national export offerings, reported Economy minister María Luisa Hayem.
According to data presented by the minister, exports totaled US$3.401 billion between january and june, representing a 4% increase in value and a 10% increase in volume compared to the same period in 2025.
The minister emphasized that these results reflect the dynamism of El Salvador’s export offerings and consolidate the sustained growth of foreign trade. She also noted that the country is currently not only exporting more but also boasts a wider variety of products and a presence in new international markets.

One of the main results of the period is that 101 salvadoran products expanded their market reach, entering 43 economies for the first time. This strengthens export diversification and reduces dependence on specific markets.
Furthermore, El Salvador registered record export figures in 16 international markets. Among the top destinations were Guatemala, with US$662 million; Mexico, with US$145 million; and Morocco, with US$21 million.
The data also show that the sectors with the greatest expansion into new markets were chemicals and chemical products, with 27 products; machinery and equipment, with 15; computer products, with 10; and textiles, with 9.

According to Hayem, these results strengthen the resilience of the salvadoran economy in the face of the international environment, thanks to a more diversified export offering and a greater presence in foreign markets.
The official stated that the performance of goods trade during the first half of 2026 confirms the export sector’s capacity to continue expanding trade opportunities and consolidating the presence of salvadoran products in the international market.
