The Corporación de Exportadores de El Salvador (COEXPORT), through its website, highlighted that the main export destinations of El Salvador during 2024 were led by the United States, with 35.6% of total exports.
Guatemala was also highlighted with 18.4%, Honduras with 16.3% and Nicaragua with 7.8%. Costa Rica and Mexico accounted for 4.8% and 3.4%, respectively, of total exports.
In this regard, Coexport noted that Central America, for example, recorded an increase of 5.1% in exports, standing out as a key region for salvadoran trade, according to the report “Estimates and Trends” of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).
Other regions also showed positive trends. Asia presented a 12.6% growth, with China leading the way with an impressive 313.4% increase. This expansion into Asia reflects the diversification and search for new markets for alvadoran products.
Trade with Latin America and the Caribbean also showed favorable results, with a 4.9% growth. This trend could be indicative of economic recovery and greater regional integration that benefits El Salvador in terms of exports.
