According to the First Rumbo País 2024 Survey, entitled “People have faith…”, conducted by the Center for Citizen Studies of Centro de Estudios Ciudadanos de la Universidad Francisco Gavidia (UFG) and based on interviews to 1,224 people over 18 years old, 54.7% of the population considers that the country is on a good or very good course.
The survey also highlights that more than 70% of the population rates electricity, drinking water and public lighting services positively, although some point out deficiencies in the coverage of these services.
In the political sphere, the population evaluated President Nayib Bukele with a score of 8.43 on a scale of 0 to 10, slightly below the 8.58 he received in a previous survey conducted by the same center in 2023. The work of the government cabinet received a rating of 7.49, surpassing the Legislative Body, which obtained a 6.94.
Regarding the performance of other institutions, the Fiscalía General de la República was rated 7.17, and the Corte Suprema de Justicia with 6.91. However, the performance of the local mayor’s offices was evaluated more critically, obtaining a 5.49 rating.
Regarding the emergency regime, 76.4% of those surveyed support its continuation, while 10.1% believe it should not continue, 9.6% do not support it, and 3.9% have no opinion on the matter. Despite the fact that 55.8% believe that security in their community has improved, 36.3% warn about the capture of innocent people in their communities.
52.5% of the participants evaluated their economic situation as fair; 23.4% considered it to be good, regarding their ability to cover the family budget, 45.7% mentioned that it is very tight, 22.9% considered it to be sufficient. The costs that have impacted families the most have been food, according to 66.8% of those surveyed, followed by services such as water, electricity and Internet (17.6%), medicines (8%), housing (2.2%), education (2.2%), transportation (1.5%) and financial services (1.1%).
