In anticipation of increased commercial activity during the Christmas and New Year’s season, various institutions are conducting inspections of businesses to protect consumer health, safety, and rights.
As part of these efforts, the Defensoría del Consumidor and the Superintendencia de Regulación Sanitaria carried out a joint operation at several food establishments located in the Plaza Merliot shopping center in the district of Santa Tecla, La Libertad Sur.
During the inspection, technical teams verified key aspects related to consumer protection, including the prohibition of the sale or use of expired products, as well as compliance with current regulations regarding food preparation and sales.
The president of the Defensoría del Consumidor Ricardo Salazar, explained that the inspections focus on ensuring that products offered to the public meet established standards, prioritizing consumer safety and rights.
The head of the Superintendencia de Regulación Sanitaria, Noe García, detailed that they also check that establishments have the corresponding permits, that staff have food handler’s certificates, that pest control is adequate, that products are properly stored, and that the supplies used are within their expiration dates.
These actions aim to strengthen sanitary and commercial oversight during one of the peak consumption periods of the year, so that the public can shop and enjoy services with greater confidence and peace of mind.
