
The President of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele, participated in the Shield of the Americas Summit, held in Doral, Florida, an international meeting that brings together leaders from across the hemisphere to address issues of security, cooperation, and regional stability.

The salvadoran president’s participation in this meeting reinforces the ties of cooperation between El Salvador and the United States, within the framework of joint initiatives promoted by the U.S. government.
During the event, U.S. President Donald Trump highlighted the close relationship with the Salvadoran president. “The president of El Salvador is another friend, a man with whom we have become very close”, he said, reiterating his appreciation for the relationship between the two nations.
Within the framework of the summit, Bukele also participated, along with other heads of state from the hemisphere, in the signing of a proclamation to launch a coalition aimed at eradicating drug cartels, an initiative promoted by the U.S. government.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio thanked the participating countries for their attendance at the meeting. “I am very grateful to the 12 countries that are here. These are not only allies, they are friends. They are countries that always respond when there is a need and work together with us”, he said.
The Shield of the Americas Summit seeks to strengthen cooperation between the United States and its allies in the hemisphere on security, combating organized crime, and promoting regional prosperity.
