El Salvador will register 36,705 businesses in various economic sectors through January 2025, according to the Ministry of Labor’s latest report on Employment Trends in El Salvador 2025. This figure is significant, as 1,408 new businesses were created in just 12 months, representing a notable 4% growth in the country’s business community.

This increase in business activity has had a direct impact on the labor market. 22,148 new jobs were created compared to January 2024, contributing to the total number of formal jobs in the country reaching 1,022,167.
The good economic performance, coupled with the strategies implemented by the Government, continues to benefit salvadorans. The creation of formal jobs is a fundamental pillar for the nation’s development and economic stability, reflecting a favorable environment for investment.

The private sector has been the main driver of this growth, with a year-over-year increase of 3.5% in january 2025. The economic activities that have most boosted prices include real estate, construction, agriculture, hunting, forestry, and fishing.
Historically, the Labor Sistema de Información del Mercado Laboral (Simel) shows an upward trend in formal jobs. From 856,624 in january 2019, the country will surpass one million formal jobs by 2024, consolidating a milestone and maintaining sustained growth.

Currently, 32% of jobs are concentrated in commerce, restaurants, and hotels, while 23% are in the manufacturing industry. Professional and administrative service activities represent 20%, diversifying the economy and job opportunities.
