The Comisión Ejecutiva Hidroeléctrica del Río Lempa (CEL) reported this tuesday that water discharges are being carried out at several of its hydroelectric plants to monitor reservoir levels and protect the dam infrastructure.
At the Central Hidroeléctrica 15 de Septiembre , a discharge of 2,500 cubic meters per second is reported through the spillway. As a preventative measure, the Sistema de Alerta Temprana (SAT) was activated with the communities of Jiquilisco and Tecoluca, located in the Bajo Lempa area.

Meanwhile, at the Central Hidroeléctrica 3 de Febrero discharges were reduced to 200 cubic meters per second, while at the Central Hidroeléctrica 5 de Noviembre discharges remain at 800 cubic meters per second.
CEL emphasized that these actions seek to guarantee the safety of the dams and the population in the surrounding areas, ensuring that discharges will be maintained and adjusted according to the evolution of river flow.
