VOLARTE: Volunteers for Art
The artists’ collective began in 2011, so this year celebrates its 13th anniversary, of which Davivienda El Salvador has accompanied for 12 consecutive years. There have been 10 exhibitions, the first was held in 2016 at the Museo de Antropología MUNA with 44 prints by 44 artists and then with the aim of bringing art to the community, they have been taken to public roads and access to all Salvadorans since 2018.
Over the last 10 years, 922 original works in Chinese ink and watercolor have been produced, the first with 44 engravings.
A total of 614 artists from three generations have participated: students, emerging and established artists, being an enormous legacy to have masters such as: Fernando Llort, Nicole Schwartz, Negra Álvarez, Titi Escalante, Julio Hernández, Mauricio Mejía, Miguel Martinó, Herito Chávez Sánchez, Salvador Llort and many more.
8,180 catalogs have been distributed, which compile the complete collection of each year, this document is a very important piece; since it allows to register the trajectory of each participating artist and to document the contribution to the history of salvadoran plastic art.
“My experience in Volarte has been very positive and enriching as an artist; Volarte gives us the opportunity to expose our work to the salvadoran population and to be ambassadors of our culture at a national level. The Inspiraciones del Alma collection shows works in Chinese ink and watercolor, so that everyone can participate and show their work. Thanks to Davivienda these Inspiraciones del Alma can be shown and exhibited”, said Andrea Rivas, representative of the collective Artists Volunteers for Art, VOLARTE.
