The Mayor of San Salvador Centro, Mario Durán, with the Dirección de Desechos Sólidos San Salvador coordinated a special cleaning plan to keep the streets clean and in proper condition during the parades held in celebration of El Salvador’s 204th anniversary of independence.
The plan involves approximately 150 workers and the installation of 250 trash cans strategically located on the main streets of the historic center, covering both the morning and afternoon hours, as part of the Independence Day celebrations.

Authorities emphasize the importance of celebrating independence with environmental responsibility, urging citizens not to litter the streets, especially during the winter season, when waste can affect rivers, streams, and drainage systems, increasing the risk of flooding.
Attendees were encouraged to use the designated containers or, alternatively, store their waste in personal bags for proper disposal later.

Desechos Sólidos employees’ work includes sweeping streets and sidewalks, collecting waste, and supervising the designated containers, all with the goal of ensuring a clean and orderly environment for all participants and visitors.
