The Dirección General de Energía, Hidrocarburos y Minas (DGEHM) carried out an inspection at the Rapigas distribution company, located in Ciudad Versalles, San Juan Opico. During the procedure, technicians detected 25-pound Tropigas propane gas cylinders containing 1.5 pounds less than the stipulated weight. This finding revealed irregularities that directly affect consumers.
Inspectors took immediate measures to protect the population. The cylinders that did not comply with the weight standards were marked to prevent them from being sold, thus preventing them from reaching salvadoran homes. These actions are essential to ensure that users receive the amount of product for which they pay.
In addition, accurate measurements of the tare weight and volumetric capacity of the cylinders were taken to certify their compliance with current regulations. This technical process not only prevents fraud, but also reinforces confidence in the institutions that regulate the energy sector.
The DGEHM reaffirmed its commitment to protect consumer rights and announced that it will continue to carry out similar inspections throughout the country. These actions seek to strengthen regulation and ensure that salvadorans receive products that meet high quality and safety standards.
