In an effort to ensure transparency and protect the economy of salvadoran families, the Dirección General de Energía, Hidrocarburos y Minas (DGEHM) has intensified controls in the distribution of propane gas.
Recently, DGEHM inspectors cancelled the distribution of a batch of cylinders from the Tomza Gas bottling company after detecting irregularities in the weight of the cylinders. This procedure is part of the daily actions carried out by the Government to ensure that companies comply with the regulations and offer consumers products that meet the established standards.
The irregularities were found in 33 35-pound cylinders during an inspection at the “Quezaltepeque” liquefied petroleum gas plant, located in La Libertad Norte. According to the report, the cylinders were under the established weight for this type of container, which led to the immediate intervention of the authorities. All the product with the inaccurate weight was marked, and the DGEHM ordered Tomza Gas to refill the cylinders to submit them to a new control before authorizing their commercialization.
These types of inspections not only protect consumers, but also send a clear message to companies that market petroleum products: compliance with regulations is mandatory. In addition to the defective cylinders, the inspection included other batches totaling more than 500 25-pound cylinders, which complied with the regulations and were authorized for distribution in the domestic market.
The salvadoran government has made it clear that it will spare no effort to protect the population. These frequent controls seek to prevent fraud and ensure that companies offer products in adequate conditions. The DGEHM has made available to the population the WhatsApp number 6969-8088 to report any irregularities in points of sale or distributors.
With the active participation of citizens and the commitment of companies to comply with regulations, it is expected that this type of situation will be reduced considerably.
