
The kindergarten of the School Center of the canton El Pepenance, district of Atiquizaya, is the fourteenth school in the department of Ahuachapán that the DOM intervenes to remodel its infrastructure, creating decent and adequate conditions for the optimal educational process in about 70 children between 4 and 6 years of age.
This work is part of the project “Dos Escuelas Por Día”, an initiative launched by President Nayib Bukele and which is updated daily in the link https://dosescuelasxdia.com/
The DOM is executing more than a hundred deteriorated schools, of which 13 have already been delivered nationwide.




The construction of the Pepenance canton is being executed in an area of 475 square meters, which is progressing with demolitions, dismantling of infrastructure in poor condition, to build two modules of three classrooms, an address, a kitchen – dining room, all with thermo-acoustic ceiling cover, false ceiling of mineral fiber, new equipment, and furniture, it will also have a warehouse, a cistern, fire system and signage.




It also includes new sanitary facilities, electrical installations, LED lighting, construction of recreational areas, playgrounds, green areas, enclosures and security such as fire alarms, smoke detectors and fire extinguishers. It will also have the EDGE tool qualification, which represents a sustainable construction certification system that focuses on making buildings more efficient.
These facilities will also have non-slip porcelain tile flooring, washable latex paint, perimeter wall, prefabricated walls, and a stone masonry retaining wall.

A second phase of the project includes the renovation of the rest of the school, which houses students from first to ninth grade in a separate building, which will begin in the next few days.
This new work, which will employ local labor, complements a nearly 2 kilometer long asphalt surface road, delivered in March of this year, which crosses the Pepenance canton, the school to be built and will connect with the urban center of Atiquizaya.

In addition, the renovation of more than 5 kilometers of streets in the urban area of the district, as well as the construction of a small commercial plaza to strengthen entrepreneurship in the area.
All these works add up to more than 42 development initiatives at the departmental level of Ahuachapán, including more than 40 kilometers of urban and rural streets recovered, the first phases of revitalization of the historic centers of Apaneca and Concepción de Ataco, and the remodeling of the central park of the district of El Refugio, among others.
