As part of the educational transformation being developed by the Government of President Nayib Bukele in El Salvador, the Dirección de Obras Municipales began the process of improving the infrastructure of the school center of the hamlet La Antena, canton Tempisque, district of Guacotecti, Cabañas Este, a project that is executed just a month after starting the transformation of the school of the hamlet El Jutal in canton San Antonio, district of Victoria.
This work is part of the project: “Dos Escuelas Por Día” which reflects the largest investment in education in the history of the country, one of the few to deliver laptops or Tablets to each student. The DOM is improving more than 100 schools nationwide, 12 of which have already been delivered to ensure safety and quality education for present and future generations.

The project consists of the rehabilitation of four modules that include three classrooms, an administration office, a kitchen, and the expansion of the sanitary facilities, to benefit students from kindergarten through sixth grade. Non-slip porcelain tile flooring will be installed, as well as a thermo-acoustic roof to regulate heat and noise from rainfall. A cistern and septic tank will be built to connect the new restrooms.
The new educational infrastructure will also include walking areas, planters, landscaping, trees, and a prefabricated wall for enclosure with cyclone mesh.

It will also be equipped with new furniture and equipment, new electrical installation, hydraulic systems, gutters, and downspouts for rainwater. Windows and doors will be replaced in all the facilities, as well as signage, emergency meeting points and free internet.

This is the second project that the DOM is executing in Guacotecti: the modernization of a 5.4 kilometer road that will not only facilitate the transit of students to their school, but will also be an access alternative for the inhabitants of this place like Sensuntepeque.

The DOM is executing more than 23 social development projects in the department of Cabañas, including improvements to the area’s electrical system, a municipal clinic, the modernization of 98 blocks of streets in the urban area of Ilobasco, and the reconstruction with asphalt surface of 13.9 kilometers of a street that connects the San Pedro canton in the district of Victoria with the border area with Honduras, facilitating the transit of inhabitants, merchants and tourists from both countries.
