As of today, the Dirección de Ordenamiento Territorial y Construcción (DOT) will be the entity responsible for issuing construction permits and authorizations related to subdivisions, works, activities and urbanization projects throughout the national territory. This measure marks an important change in the management of these procedures, consolidating the DOT as the central authority in this matter.

The only exception to this new regulation is the traditional construction permits within the San Salvador Metropolitan Area (AMSS), where the DOT will only oversee specific procedures. The objective of this restructuring is to centralize processes, streamline response times and provide greater transparency in urban planning procedures.

For the new procedures, users must go directly to the DOT, either using the official digital platform or in person. The ongoing files will be handled by the entity, which will communicate with users to provide them with personalized follow-up and ensure the continuity of their processes. In addition, the start of the Registry of Professionals and Providers of Urbanization and Construction Services has been announced. This initiative seeks to have an updated and reliable database of qualified experts to guarantee the quality and legality of the projects.
