El Salvador continues to consolidate its position as a top-tier tourist destination, registering a notable increase in international tourism. According to figures from the Ministerio de Turismo (MITUR), the arrival of foreign visitors has seen a 14% increase in 2025 so far. Minister Morena Valdez confirmed the excellent figures for the sector this monday.

According to the official, 41,000 international visitors had been recorded as of august 2, representing significant progress toward the annual goal. The country had set a goal of welcoming 90,000 tourists in 2025, and almost 50% of that figure has already been reached. This achievement exceeds expectations and the 2024 figures.

Most visitors come from the United States, Guatemala, and Honduras, consolidating the region as a key market. Minister Valdez also highlighted a notable increase in the arrival of salvadorans living abroad. This increase became more evident with the start of the August holidays, a period of high influx for the country.

The tourism boom is not only reflected in visitor numbers but also in economic development. Minister Valdez emphasized that the private sector has been a key player in this dynamic. She highlighted the growth of areas such as the Panoramic Route and the personalized attention provided to business owners in the sector.
Regarding tourist destinations, the Historic Center of San Salvador has positioned itself as one of the most attractive. The minister emphasized that, during these holidays, this point of interest has attracted a large influx of visitors, becoming an epicenter of cultural and recreational activity.

This growth in tourism is fundamental to the salvadoran economy. According to the official, the sector is beginning to represent a significant portion of the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP). This tourism boom is a clear indicator of the positive impact the government’s security and investment strategy has had.
