The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of El Salvador, in conjunction with the Investment and Export Promotion Agency (Invest in El Salvador), has organized a series of forums in Los Angeles, California, taking place from august 19 to 24. The objective of these meetings is to attract new investments, especially from the Salvadoran diaspora, to promote economic development in the country.
Andrea Cañas, head of the Investment Department, stressed the importance of the coordinated work between the Foreign Ministry and Invest to strengthen investment opportunities in key sectors such as tourism, construction and real estate. She also highlighted the work of the consulates in identifying potential investors.
These forums also seek to stimulate salvadoran exports, encouraging compatriots abroad to become distributors and representatives of Salvadoran products in their countries of residence.
As part of the activities, training was offered to California consulates, focused on improving attention to the diaspora on economic issues. This includes facilitating the identification of investors and supporting investment projects.
Representatives from El Salvador will also participate in the Annual State Convention of the California Hispanic Chambers of Commerce 2024, where they hope to establish strategic contacts that will strengthen investments from the diaspora and other foreign sources.
