Throughout 2025, the government of President Nayib Bukele consolidated a national transformation agenda with direct impacts on the country’s economic, social, and territorial development through strategic investments in tourism, education, road infrastructure, market organization, and public safety.
One of the year’s most significant projects was the launch of the Surf City 2 strategy in eastern El Salvador. This initiative includes the construction of 13 kilometers of highway, with the goal of strengthening connectivity, boosting private investment, and promoting tourism in the region. As part of this plan, the president inaugurated the road to Punta Mango, a key project that expands the national tourism offerings and generates new economic opportunities for communities in the eastern part of the country.
Regarding road infrastructure, President Bukele also inaugurated two bridges located in the districts of San Antonio del Mosco and Carolina, in San Miguel Norte. These projects directly benefit 18,000 residents and indirectly benefit more than 600,000 people in the eastern region by improving mobility, facilitating local commerce, and strengthening tourism development.
Strengthening the education system was another of the Government’s priorities in 2025. Through the Dos Escuelas por Día program, progress was made in modernizing school infrastructure nationwide. During the year, 70 renovated schools were delivered, equipped with modern facilities and dignified spaces, aimed at improving the learning conditions of children and young people and strengthening their academic preparation for the future.
In the area of commerce and urban planning, President Bukele inaugurated the new Mercado San Miguelito, a project that provides a modern, safe, and clean space for vendors and consumers. This project is complemented by the consolidation of the Dirección de Mercados Nacionales, an institution with legal backing and administrative independence, which has allowed for the overcoming of the historical disarray in the country’s markets and the establishment of clear regulations, planning, control, and security.
Public safety continued to be a key pillar of the government’s administration. Through the Plan Control Territorial, El Salvador achieved a historic milestone in 2025, recording 1,000 days without homicides nationwide, reflecting a sustained transformation in the fight against crime. Simultaneously, the government intensified its frontal assault on drug trafficking, achieving record drug seizures throughout the year, a result of strengthened security and territorial control strategies.
These actions demonstrate a comprehensive development policy promoted by President Nayib Bukele’s administration, which integrates investment in infrastructure, education, tourism, economic planning, and security, with the goal of improving the population’s quality of life and laying a solid foundation for the country’s sustainable growth.
