The Government of El Salvador has deployed Plan Verano 2025, activating the Lifeguard Unit in 170 monitoring points distributed in 31 beaches, 7 recreational parks and 2 lakes, in coordination with other institutions to guarantee the safety of the population during the vacation period.

According to Luis Alonso Amaya, director of Civil Protection, 76 aquatic rescues have been carried out, of which 33 were simple and 43 were deep rescues. This represents an increase compared to the same period last year, when 12 simple rescues and 22 deep rescues were recorded. Despite this increase, to date there have been no reports of immersion fatalities on public beaches, hotel pools or private ranches.
Regarding fire emergencies, the director of the Fire Department, Baltazar Solano, reported that between april 12 and 16, 219 incidents were attended, including 167 brush fires, 19 forest fires, 17 structure fires, 6 dumpster fires and 10 vehicle fires. This figure represents an increase over the 148 emergencies of the same period in 2024.

However, Solano said that, despite the increase during the vacations, the accumulated number of emergencies from january 1 to date shows a reduction of 27%, which reflects an improvement in the response and prevention of risks in the country.
As part of the preventive actions, the Fire Department is carrying out verification days in tourist businesses such as hotels, restaurants, and bars, to ensure compliance with safety measures. These inspections include the review of contingency plans, adequate signage, location of fire extinguishers and conditions in the kitchen areas.
