The support of food packages and bonds of US$300 offered by President Nayib Bukele to farmers affected by tropical depression Sara is reaching the entire national territory. The delivery began on tuesday in Sonsonate and on wednesday more packages were distributed in the departments of San Miguel and Usulután, reaching a total of 1,800 given to farming families and 4,000 to fishing families.
In addition, vouchers for the purchase of inputs are already being delivered to farming families, after due inspection and technical evaluation in which it is determined that the land is suitable for cultivation.
The distribution is coordinated by the Ministerio de Agricultura y Ganadería (MAG) and the Ministry of the Interior through the General Directorate of Civil Protection, after a field verification in which the beneficiaries are selected.
The MAG continues to collect information on crop damage thanks to the reports through the portal https://piatec.mag.gob.sv/piatec/denuncia/step1.xhtml. In addition, producers also report damages and clear doubts on the telephone line 2210-5285.
Technical verifications are carried out by means of advanced scanning with multispectral camera drones, which allow for faster inspections, covering more affected areas and providing more precise recommendations. To date, technicians have inspected more than 3,600 blocks of land.
The beneficiaries are grateful for the assistance provided by President Bukele and his government, as it represents an important relief to mitigate the damage caused by the rains, while reaffirming the commitment to the farming communities and their contribution to ensure food security in the country.
The distribution of food packages and economic vouchers for the purchase of inputs to farmers affected by the rains will continue in the coming days to cover the entire national territory.
