The Dirección General de Migración y Extranjería has enabled an online review and validation service for exit permits for children and adolescents, with the aim of facilitating procedures for families and ensuring that documents comply with legal requirements before traveling.
This service allows users to verify in advance whether the exit authorization complies with the provisions of the Special Law on Migration and Foreigners and the Ley Crecer Juntos, or whether it requires corrections to avoid inconveniences when leaving the country.
The procedure begins with the digitization of the original exit authorization, which must include the signature of one or both parents, as well as the signature and seal of the notary who certified the document. Subsequently, the permit must be sent in PDF format, with good resolution and clarity, to the email address atencion.prechequeo@migracion.gob.sv.

Once received, the document is reviewed by Immigration. If it meets all requirements, the user will receive a validated authorization with a QR code, which guarantees the approval and validity of the travel permit.
At the time of travel, the child or adolescent must carry a valid passport, the original physical authorization, and the QR code, which can be presented digitally from a mobile phone or printed. This requirement applies whether the minor is traveling alone, with one parent, or accompanied by a third party.
Authorities recommend submitting the permit well in advance of the travel date, as the response time will depend on the order in which emails are received.

Migration also highlighted some important considerations. Powers of attorney with special clauses in which one parent authorizes the other to arrange for the child to leave the country are not valid for this procedure. In addition, if the child or adolescent is traveling accompanied by airline staff, the name of the airline must be indicated and it must be confirmed in advance that the airline offers an escort service, to avoid any inconveniences during boarding.
With this digital tool, the Dirección General de Migración y Extranjería seeks to streamline processes, reduce errors in documentation, and provide greater security and peace of mind to families planning international travel with children and adolescents.
