The Ministry of Culture of El Salvador has reported a historic influx of nearly 137,000 visitors to its venues and activities during the August festivities. This figure, which exceeds previous years’ records, reflects the growing interest of the population in participating in the country’s cultural life. The head of the institution, Raúl Castillo, described the result as a “mission accomplished”.

The massive attendance is part of a broad agenda of more than 200 artistic, recreational, and educational activities promoted by the government under the Vacation Plan. These initiatives, developed throughout the country, seek to promote access to culture, strengthen Salvadoran identity, and offer healthy recreational options for families and tourists visiting the country.

The star of this season has been the Biblioteca Nacional de El Salvador (BINAES), which hosted more than 90 events. With a projected four million visits in the coming months, this modern cultural venue has established itself as an unmissable meeting point, operating continuously 24 hours a day.
According to the Ministry of Culture, this success is a direct result of the security conditions in the country. The general sense of calm has allowed both the Historic Center of San Salvador and other cultural spaces to welcome visitors at any time of the day or night. According to the official, there is no “limit” to enjoying oneself safely.

Archaeological parks also offered free books to visitors, and the former Presidential House saw high visitor numbers. At the latter site, the National School of Music organized interactive activities for young children, where girls and boys were introduced to musical instruments under the guidance of specialized teachers.
