The Instituto Salvadoreño del Café (ISCAFE), in collaboration with the Agencia Italiana de Cooperación para el Desarrollo (AICS), held the Quality Competition in Coffee Growing Regions by Coffee Variety, a key event in the framework of the VIVIFACE project.
This competition brought together the main actors in the coffee chain in El Salvador, providing producers with a platform to showcase the unique qualities of their farms, processes and varieties. The main objective was to highlight the exceptional quality of salvadoran coffee and strengthen its recognition in international markets.
During the competition, 10 lots of coffee were presented, all with scores above 84 points, a clear indicator of the excellence of the bean. This high level of quality not only attracted the attention of specialized buyers, but also generated successful negotiations, reaching prices of up to US$8.10 per pound, which demonstrates the economic potential of salvadoran coffee.
This event not only promotes the production of high quality coffee, but also boosts the national coffee trade. Producers now have greater opportunities to position themselves in more competitive markets, which contributes to the economic development of the coffee growing regions and, ultimately, of the country.
The Quality Competition in Coffee Growing Regions by Coffee Variety is an important step towards the consolidation of El Salvador as a reference in the production of specialty coffee. With the support of initiatives such as the VIVIFACE project, it is expected that the coffee industry will continue to grow and generate benefits for both producers and the national economy.
