El Salvador, through the Cup of Excellence 2024 auction reached an all-time record, with the Los Morales farm achieving a price of US$120.00 per pound for a Geisha variety, beating the previous record of US$95.70 set in 2017 for a Pacamara variety from the Santa Rosa farm.
This achievement not only underscores the high quality of salvadoran coffee, but also reinforces El Salvador’s international reputation as an outstanding producer in the global market. In addition, in this edition, 92 international buyers had the opportunity to taste and value the aromatic salvadoran beverage, recognized worldwide for its unparalleled flavor.
The competition, which celebrates and promotes the high quality of coffee, awarded this year 10 Presidential prizes, destined to those lots that reached a score above 90, reaffirming the excellence of the coffee produced in El Salvador.
Likewise, the President of the Instituto Salvadoreño del Café (ISC), Mauricio Sansivirini, has highlighted the high vision and support of the government in technification, promotion, research and technology transfer in coffee growing, as key elements to increase productivity and profitability of the sector. Likewise, 30 Salvadoran coffees were recognized at the event, offering an invaluable opportunity for producers to promote their products in the international market.
In addition, the Cup of Excellence 2024 auction is not only an international window to showcase the quality of salvadoran coffee, but also facilitates a direct approach between local producers and buyers from four continents. Sansivirini stressed the importance of this opportunity, noting that “all lots are sold at a higher price, it is part of the vision of our institute to move away from the stock market price, because our coffee is simply special”.
With the Cup of Excellence 2024 ceremony, El Salvador once again reaffirms its position on the map of high quality coffee, offering its producers a platform to demonstrate their dedication and talent, and consolidating the country’s image as a reference in the world coffee industry.
