El Salvador has consolidated its position as a top-tier tourist destination by receiving an impressive number of international visitors during the August holidays. As of august 4, authorities recorded the arrival of 62,000 foreign tourists, a figure that demonstrates the country’s growing popularity. It is estimated that, by the end of the season, the total number of visitors will reach 90,000, significantly boosting the economy.

Tourism minister Morena Valdez highlighted the success of this holiday season, noting that the goal of 90,000 visitors is close to being met. The flow of people has been constant, especially in the final days of the holiday. This notable increase in tourism not only benefits the industry but also contributes to the country’s overall economic growth, generating significant economic benefits.
In addition to international tourism, national sites have seen a large influx of visitors. With 1.6 million people registered as of august 4, the total number of local visitors is expected to reach 2.6 million. This internal movement demonstrates that salvadorans are also taking advantage of the country’s peace and security to enjoy their vacations.

The most popular destinations for tourists and locals have been SívarLand, the Centro Histórico de San Salvador and Biblioteca Nacional de El Salvador (Binaes). Minister Valdez mentioned that these places have been epicenters of tourist activity, attracting thousands of families who enjoy an environment of tranquility and security, which contributes to the country’s positive image.
Morena Valdez emphasized that the success of this tourist season is largely due to the sense of security and peace experienced in El Salvador. People feel confident and at ease about family outings, which is a determining factor when choosing a destination. This favorable environment has made the country an attractive destination for both domestic and international tourism.
The constant flow of tourists not only impacts the hotel and service sectors but also boosts the local economy. Businesses in tourist areas experience increased sales, benefiting small and medium-sized entrepreneurs. El Salvador is demonstrating that tourism is a powerful tool for economic development and the country’s international reach.
