The Government of El Salvador reaffirms its commitment to the country’s economic development, focusing its efforts on strengthening its capacity to export energy. This strategy seeks not only to improve energy self-sufficiency, but also to position El Salvador as a key player in the regional energy market, taking advantage of its natural resources in an efficient manner.
Vice President Félix Ulloa recently met with Edwin Núñez, president of Empresa Transmisora de Energía en El Salvador (ETESAL), to discuss the company’s new projects. During this meeting, investments in state-of-the-art technology that will optimize the existing infrastructure and improve the quality of service were discussed. In addition, ETESAL’s expansion plan for the next 15 years was presented, which includes new initiatives to guarantee a more robust and reliable electricity supply.
As part of his visit, the Vice President toured the Nuevo Cuscatlán substation, a crucial point from where energy is distributed to different sectors of La Libertad. This facility not only provides continuous and quality energy, but also connects with the Santo Tomás and El Volcán substations, thus strengthening the power distribution network in the region. The Nuevo Cuscatlán substation is vital to guarantee power supply to an estimated 71,000 users and to feed the Transaction Unit (UT).
During the tour, the president of ETESAL guided the vice president through the transmission operation center, where the operation of the network throughout the country is supervised. This visit allowed Ulloa to see the daily work being done to ensure the stability and efficiency of the national electricity system, a fundamental aspect for the country’s economic growth.
The commitment of the Government and ETESAL to the energy development of El Salvador is evident in these initiatives. The collaboration between the two parties not only seeks to improve the existing infrastructure, but also to foster a favorable environment for investment in the energy sector, which in turn can generate employment and promote sustainable growth in the country.
